In the same way that our current paper currencies generally have 100 cents that make up 1 of the actual currency, Bitcoin also has lower forms of its currency such as; nano bitcoins (nBTC), micro bitcoins (uBTC) and milli bitcoins (mBTC).
The easiest way to think of it is like this:
1000 nBTC is 1 uBTC
1000 uBTC is 1 mBTC
1000 mBTC is 1 BTC
Another way to think of it is like this:
1 nBTC = 0.000000001 BTC
1 uBTC = 0.000001 BTC
1 mBTC = 0.001 BTC
